Dentists Agree Alcohol-free Mouthwash is the Best for Intimate Moments
You need not think twice about getting close to your special date this Valentine’s Day, because strong mouth odor is now a thing of the past.
Dentists agree that it is best to be armed and ready with a bottle of alcohol-free mouthwash for fresh, close encounters.
“Of course, the person’s eyes and smile will always leave the first impression, but having strong mouth odor can leave the most horrible one,” reveals Dr. El Santos, a cosmetic dentist for Jancen Cosmetic Surgery. “It totally affects the afflicted person’s confidence and can cause a stigma among his or her social circle.”
“What most people do not know, it’s not just the spicy foods, the obvious ones like bagoong, that cause bad breath,” says Dr. Virna Obillos, an advanced orthodontist and founder of Smile Works. “It’s the food rich in carbohydrates, sugar, and fats that do most damage.”
Obillos explains that these are the kinds of food that raise the acid level of the mouth, a condition that promotes the growth of bacteria which cause plaque, tartar, and strong mouth odor. Their sticky nature makes it worse because they cling to the teeth and onto every nook and cranny of the mouth and tongue.
“That’s why brushing your teeth is not enough,” stresses Santos, who does a combination of dental crown and porcelain veneer work for movie stars and high profile personalities to make their smile “sexier” and more dazzling. He also recommends regular flossing, use of mouthrinse, and scraping the tongue and walls of the mouth.
The Right Mouthwash
To fight bad breath, both dentists agree that it is best to use an alcohol-free mouthwash since alcohol tends to dry the mouth. A dry mouth is very susceptible to bacterial growth.
“Dry mouth, hormonal change, and tongue bacteria can all cause strong mouth odor,” says Santos.
“The usual mouthwash will not be able to eliminate volatile sulfur compounds, the by-products of bacteria and root of bad breath,” says Obillos. “That’s why most dentists prefer and use a mouthwash which has Stabilized Chlorine Dioxide.”
This Stabilized Chlorine Dioxide is the main ingredient in OraCare Mouthrinse. Because it is an oxidizing agent, it destroys bacteria at the molecular level. It eliminates all odors by oxidizing the bonds in sulfur compounds that cause strong mouth odor.
What’s more, Stabilized Chlorine Dioxide is non-mutagenic (germs can’t mutate to destruction) and non-allergenic (no allergic reactions recorded). More importantly, it’s non-carcinogenic. Recent studies link the use of alcohol-based mouthwashes to oral and pharyngeal cancer.
As an added bonus, the oxidizing effect of Stabilized Chlorine Dioxide results in a bleaching or whitening action, thus helping make the teeth brighter.
Manufactured by Pascual Laboratories, Oracare Mouthrinse is an alcohol- and sugar-free mouthrinse that‘s mild and safe to use regularly. And because there’s no alcohol, one doesn’t have to bear the painful, stinging sensation normally experienced with other alcohol-based mouthwashes.
So aside from chocolates, make sure you add OraCare Mouthrinse to your list of must-haves this Valentine’s Day.
